“Sweet And Sassy Strawberry Tart”

A strawberry tart is a delicious dessert made with a crisp pastry shell filled with fresh strawberries and often accompanied by a sweet filling or glaze. Here’s a basic recipe for making a strawberry tart:

Ingredients:

1.For the pastry shell:

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons ice water

2.For the filling:

  • Fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam or preserves
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions:

1.Prepare the pastry shell:

In a food processor, combine the flour and granulated sugar.
Add the cold butter cubes and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and ice water.
Gradually add the egg mixture to the flour mixture while pulsing, until the dough just starts to come together.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it into a ball.
Flatten the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.

2.Preheat the oven:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

3.Roll out the dough:

On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit a tart pan. Make sure the dough is even in thickness.

4.Line the tart pan:

Gently press the rolled-out dough into a tart pan, trimming any excess hanging over the edges.

5.Blind bake the crust:

Line the tart shell with parchment paper and fill it with pie weights or dried beans.
Bake the crust in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, then remove the weights and parchment paper and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
Allow the crust to cool completely.

6.Prepare the filling:

Heat the strawberry jam or preserves in a small saucepan over low heat until it becomes more liquid and spreadable.
Brush a thin layer of the warm jam over the cooled tart shell.

7.Assemble the tart:

Arrange the sliced strawberries over the jam layer in the tart shell.

8.Glaze the strawberries:

Gently brush the remaining warm jam over the strawberries to create a glossy glaze.

9.Chill and serve:

Refrigerate the strawberry tart for at least an hour to allow the flavors to meld and the glaze to set.

Serve the tart slices with a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.

Enjoy your homemade strawberry tart! You can get creative with variations, such as adding a layer of pastry cream or custard beneath the strawberries or experimenting with different types of jams and glazes.
